One Last Post and a Thank You

New House Property

This month marks 4 years that I have been writing this blog and sharing recipes.  I can’t believe it has been that long.  In fact, I was thinking it was 3 until I went back and looked at the starting date.  Until very recently, I fully intended to continue because this blog has been one of the greatest joys of my life.  But something (good) happened recently, and I realized I am not going to have the time I need to put into blogging.  We are building a house!  It has been a dream of ours for the last 12 years to build, we have been actively trying to find land to build on for at least 5 years, and finally bought some almost 3 years ago.  In the meantime, through many ups and downs, we have gone through the process of designing, getting permits, and going through all the necessary details to make building a house possible.  There were many times we almost gave up and thought it was not going to happen for one reason or another.  But last Tuesday, we broke ground, and it looks like it is really going to happen (the good Lord willing and the creek don’t rise)! We are so excited!!!

Even though I am so grateful and happy about the house, I have basically been in mourning since I decided I am not going to blog anymore.  It feels kind of like I am giving away one of my children! 🙁 And the reason it feels that way is because of all of you!  I am really going to miss being part of the blogging community as well as just talking back and forth with those of you that took the time to comment here.  It has been wonderful for me to get to know others who love to cook as much as I do.  I think people who love to cook and eat are just about the nicest people there are, and I am sad that I won’t have that same connection with you that I have had for the last 4 years.  Even though I have never met most of you that followed Cook AZ I Do, I  felt a bond with all of you that meant so much to me.  I just wish you could all live on my street, and we could share real food with each other, and chat in person!  And for those of you that do live near me or know me and followed this blog, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support.  You are very important to me, and I am so happy you are in my life!

I have decided to keep posting recipes here, as that is my online cookbook of the recipes I use most, and it is so convenient, but I won’t be writing a post to go with them.  I will still be cooking and visiting other blogs, but it will be much more sporadic and inconsistent.  So you will see me around, here and there, but it won’t be the same.  However, if you ever want to just stop by and say hi, I would love that!  I will also be posting pictures of building the house on Instagram if any of you are interested in that type of thing.

I started my “About” page 4 years ago with a quote from one of my favorite movies so I thought it only appropriate to end with a quote from another of my favorite movies.  It is from You’ve Got Mail, and Meg Ryan says about her e-mail chats with her online pen pal, “The odd thing about this form of communication is that you’re more likely to talk about nothing than something, but I just want to say that all this nothing has meant more to me than so many somethings.  So thanks.”  And thanks to all of you for your comments, encouragement, suggestions, guidance, wonderful recipes, cooking tips, great movie suggestions, support, and friendship.  It has meant so much more to me than so many somethings! 🙂
